Quotes 5.22.8

When things go wrong as they sometimes will;
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill;
When the funds are low, and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but have to sigh;
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but do not quit.

Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure...than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.

Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance,
gift, or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes.

1. Set a goal that demands your best
2. Develop a burning desire to make it a reality
3. Keep your eye on the goal
4. Refuse to listen to negative criticism
5. Surround yourself with encouraging friends
6. In any defeat, look for a personal lesson
7. Practice self-control
8. Believe you can reach your goal
9. Rely on God to enable you
10.Know that God will never give up on you

Thoughts/Advice:

You should fail in about half the goals you set for yourself - if not, you’re probably setting them too low.

Bad things happen in life, and there is no sense in getting all worked up about everything that goes wrong.

If somebody’s not right, they’re probably hungry. Feed them.

You have to take responsibility for your own education. Don’t depend on schools for that.

There are two kinds of people in the world, those who keep their promises and those who don’t. Once someone has demonstrated that they belong to the latter, have nothing whatever to do with them again, and for God’s Sake, don’t do business with them!

If you ever wake up in the morning, and don’t feel like going to work: don’t. Life is too short to work at something that sucks.
