Packers Draftees

List of the Packers draft picks.

Green Bay

Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
1 24 Aaron Rodgers QB California
Pat Kirwan's Analysis
The kid does not know how lucky he is -- the pain of today will be gone soon. I spend my Sundays with Dan Marino, who went 25th in the draft, and he never forgot about it and had a pretty good career. The Packers just found Brett Favre's replacement. He's athletic, creates like Favre did when he was young, and the Tedford system does teach him to read and release the ball. This is the steal of the draft for the Packers.

Brandt on Rodgers: Every year there's a player that for some reason falls. This is too good a player to be drafted this low, and I think he's a young guy (21 years old) who has a chance to really be a part of that franchise for a long time to come.

2 51 Nick Collins FS Bethune-Coookman
Gil Brandt's Analysis
Collins played safety but can play corner, which he did last year. He's very fast with very good speed and size. He's a small-college player with big-time potential.

2 58 Terrence Murphy WR Texas A&M
Gil Brandt's Analysis
Murphy was a QB in high school and came to Texas A&M and was converted to a receiver. He set records for passes caught as a freshman and is also a very good kick returner. He's strong, he's tall and he has top speed.

4 115 Marviel Underwood FS San Diego State
Pat Kirwan's Analysis
Rose fast in the last few weeks, and he did that because a lot of secondary coaches thought he could play cornerback or safety.

Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
4 125 Brady Poppinga OLB Brigham Young
Gil Brandt's Analysis
This is an interesting player. Comes from an athletic family. He's got good speed (under 5.0) and has big size (6-3, 260). He's more of a 3-4 linebacker but maybe the Packers can try him at defensive end.

143 Junius Coston C North Carolina A&T
Gil Brandt's Analysis
A big center from a small school. One of the best linemen in that conference who performed well at the combine.

Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
5 167 Michael Hawkins CB Oklahoma
Gil Brandt's Analysis
Hawkins went to school one year (at Oklahoma). He was a great high school player who wasn't able to stay in school. He's a tall cornerback.

180 Mike Montgomery DT Texas A&M
Gil Brandt's Analysis
Montgomery's mother was a professional basketball player, so he has gotten the athleticism bug from her. He has really long arms which will help him get to the quarterback.

Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
195 Craig Bragg WR UCLA
Gil Brandt's Analysis
Bragg pulled up at the combine and couldn't work out. Then he couldn't work out at a Pro Day because of his injury. Finally worked out at a high school field and did well. This is a great value pick -- not only can he play receiver but he can return kicks.

Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
7 245 Kurt Campbell CB Albany (N.Y.)
Gil Brandt's Analysis
He's a safety that a lot of people think could become a linebacker (6-1 1/4, 233, runs 4.47 in the 40). Another one-trait player that could develop into a good player.

Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
7 246 William Whitticker G Michigan State
Gil Brandt's Analysis
This is a big, strong offensive lineman. He's 6-5 3/8 and 335 pounds and can zone block well.
