Blink the book

Finished Blink. A pretty cool book on the thought process that happens in a split second. I thought the experiment with the card deck and playing video in reading peoples faces were cool, but repeated quite often. Some interesting points on the muscles in the face and emotional combinations that can really tell how one is feeling.

First Snowfall

The first snow flakes falling before Halloween here in Boston. Having a conversation with a co-worker a couple of weeks ago, I made the bold prediction that we would be having a snowfall for his kids trick or treating. Odd how those things come true. I should have played the lottery that day.

Books to check out

Some book titles to check out.

Katharine Graham's Personal History is sensational. I think everybody ought to read that.

There's one called The Bottomless Well, about energy, that I love. There's one about computer science, Ray Kurzweil's bookóI have a preprint, so I'm not sure when it's coming outócalled Singularity Is Near, about artificial intelligence. The Tom Friedman book [The World Is Flat] is supergood. Jeffrey Sachs wrote a book called The End of Poverty, the Jack Welch book Winning came out this year, and don't forget [Jared Diamond's] Collapse, which is the follow-on to one of the best books of all time [Guns, Germs, and Steel].

Still updating

Figuring I'll have to hard code the archives links, I'll get cracking on putting up the parts from the older posts.

Not a bad poker night. I went out right before they made the final two tables. Tough luck. Even worse was the pick'em winner was decided on a points guess. I should have known the Colts/Rams was going to be a shoot out. O well. I can't win every week. Just being atop the leader board was enough since my other weeks entry had only 1 correct.

Sucks having people cut in front of you as you wait to pay the Verizon bill. Thanks pal. WTF?!

New Layout v.01

Trying to figure out the old three column look with links off to the side rathter than content here and there and half way down and what not. I still can't figure out how to get my old archives to post and have a better idea of the history.

If you know how this MT upgrade works let me know. Thanks.

Packers Bye Week

Can't have a rooting interest in the games when the Packers are off for this week. The Patriots on the other hand aren't looking too good at Denver.

Fixing the bugs

The site might undergo some changes as I try and figure out the MT upgrades. So far I've only managed to delete the base index file that is posted to the main site.
